Veritas Collaborative Among First Treatment Centers to Receive ANAD’s Inclusive Care Seal of Approval

Eating disorders don’t discriminate and neither should eating disorder treatment. At Veritas Collaborative, we are passionate about creating inclusive treatment spaces — and we are proud to be recognized as one of the first eating disorders treatment centers awarded the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders’ (ANAD) recently launched Inclusive Seal of Approval.

Developed as part of its new Inclusive Care Guide, ANAD’s Inclusive Seal of Approval is awarded to eating disorder care centers that have demonstrated a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion — values that are an intentional practice within the Veritas culture — from our hiring initiatives to our commitment to providing culturally competent care.

According to Sydney Brodeur-Johnson, Ph.D., LCP, Senior Director of Clinical Services and Executive Director of the Veritas Collaborative Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council, being among the first treatment centers to be recognized with the Inclusive Seal of Approval is a testament to Veritas’ mission to change the field of eating disorders for the better, for everyone.

“Veritas is a longtime advocate for diverse communities within eating disorder treatment spaces,” said Dr. Brodeur-Johnson. “This recognition from ANAD affirms our role as a leader in the field and strengthens our commitment to continue advancing diversity and inclusivity in our work every day.”

Numerous aspects of the Veritas Collaborative treatment environment were designed with inclusivity in mind. Our support for marginalized communities goes beyond our physical spaces, although we do provide all-gender bathrooms and visibly signal our support of the LGBT+ community through pride flags throughout our facilities and on our website. We utilize an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that enables us to indicate gender identity, pronouns and chosen name. We also offer training for all staff members on best practices for working with marginalized populations — and how to do it with cultural humility.

Diversity and inclusion aren’t buzzwords — they’re key Veritas Collaborative values. Learn more about our story and how we can help you discover lasting eating disorder recovery in an inclusive treatment space.
