Staff Spotlight, Christina Toliver
Tell us about yourself!
My name is Christina Toliver (she/her), and I am a Phone Intake Therapist for Accanto Health, the parent company of Veritas Collaborative and The Emily Program. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina. I have been with Accanto for seven years!
What does a typical day look like for you at Accanto Health?
A typical day for me consists of assessing the level of care and clinical appropriateness for patients at our sites. I work with patients of all ages, their communities of support, and referring providers to ensure a seamless and swift transition into our care.
What aspect of your role are you most grateful for?
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am grateful that I get to assist and support patients with saving and improving their overall quality of life. I am also incredibly fortunate to be a voice of hope for families that have endured significant hardships and disruptions due to their loved one’s illness.
What have our patients taught you?
Our patients have taught me to be grateful for the small victories.
What one thing do you wish everyone knew about eating disorders?
I wish people had more knowledge of the prevalence and occurrence of eating disorders, including the fact that these illnesses occur in people of all races, ages, sexualities, sizes, genders, and socioeconomic statuses.
What piece of advice would you give to those struggling with eating disorders?
It’s never too late for change, regardless of how long you’ve suffered or how many times you’ve received treatment!
