As many of you are aware, eating disorders are the most lethal of all psychiatric illnesses. More than 25 million persons suffer with eating disorders in the United States with young persons representing the majority of those newly identified with the illness.
In recent years, the average age-of-onset of anorexia nervosa was gauged between 15 and 17 years of age. Today’s research shows that the age-of-onset is now nearing 12 or 13 years old. With this alarming downward trend, the need for best-practice care for this under-treated population is increasing demand.
With a patient centered approach, the team at Veritas Collaborative is passionate both about the best-practice treatment of eating disorder illnesses in young people, and the critical need that adolescents & their families are able to receive exceptionally competent care. The founders of Veritas Collaborative — Eating Disorder Specialists Stacie McEntyre & Chase Bannister — along with the support and collective wisdom of field leaders and advocates, have developed a unique treatment environment, incorporating three levels of eating disorders care: acute psychiatric inpatient, acute residential, & partial hospitalization (day treatment).
