Veritas Collaborative Moves Child and Adolescent Hospital To Bigger Facility in Durham

Veritas Collaborative, a specialty hospital system for the treatment of eating disorders, today announced that the organization has moved its Durham child and adolescent hospital to a new, bigger facility in Durham and will open an adult hospital in the coming weeks.

“Across the entire country, there aren’t enough resources for people with eating disorders,” said Stacie McEntyre, founder, president, and CEO of Veritas. “Veritas Collaborative is growing so that we can fill this gap in services and meet the needs of those suffering.”

The new child and adolescent hospital has been relocated from 615 Douglas St. to 4024 Stirrup Creek Dr., a 64,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility with 40 beds – six certificate of need inpatient beds and 34 psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) beds – for the treatment of children and adolescents with eating disorders.

Following minor renovations, Veritas will offer treatment to adults ages 18 and older in the Douglas Street location. The organization has received a certificate of need for 25 inpatient beds and will start treating patients pending licensure approval from the state of North Carolina.

Veritas also received approval from the Georgia Department of Community Health in December 2015 to open a 50-bed pediatric hospital in Atlanta. The organization plans to begin providing services to the Atlanta community in 2017.

“Hospitalization rates for eating disorders in children and adolescents are up 72 percent in the past ten years,” said Kenneth Moore, vice president of operations for Veritas Collaborative. “Now more than ever, access to specialized eating disorders care is of utmost importance.”
