Veritas Collaborative Selects Tosha Smith, PhD as New Director of Research
Veritas Collaborative, a specialty healthcare system for the treatment of eating disorders, hired Dr. Tosha Smith as its new director of research. She is responsible for oversight of all system-wide data collection efforts across all company locations.
In her new role, Smith will help fulfill the Veritas mission to drive the standard of care for eating disorders with independently owned, data-driven insights. A former engineer, Smith is tasked with building and maintaining Veritas Collaborative’s data infrastructure and using data to continuously examine and improve the organization’s treatment model. She also ensures that Veritas participates in and applies the latest research in eating disorder treatment so patients receive the very best evidence-based treatment for eating disorder recovery.
“Dr. Smith’s expertise as both an engineer and a science-minded healthcare researcher is an exceptional combination that will prove to be an asset to Veritas,” said Stacie McEntyre, LCSW, CEDS, founder, president, and CEO of Veritas Collaborative. “Her analytic style combined with an understanding of healthcare and eating disorder complexities will benefit our patients tremendously. We welcome her expertise and have full confidence that her contributions will enhance our unwavering commitment to evidence-based care.”
“I am honored to join the Veritas Collaborative team, where the mission to deliver excellent, empathetic, evidence-based care to those battling eating disorders is front and center each day,” said Smith. “I look forward to working together to improve outcomes and address this devastating disease with proven science.”
Smith holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Mercer University (Macon, GA), a PhD in Nutrition Intervention and Policy from the School of Public Health at UNC Chapel Hill, and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders at the UNC School of Medicine. Smith is a native of Atlanta, Ga., and now lives in North Carolina with her husband, kids, and wanna-be therapy dog Rufus.
