Virtual outpatient care occurs weekly, biweekly, or on an as-needed basis, depending on the unique needs of each person. This level of care is suitable for individuals who are medically stable and in need of multidisciplinary support to continue their progress toward eating disorder recovery.

We’re here to supplement the work you, your current care team, and your family and community of support are already doing.

Veritas Collaborative’s virtual eating disorder treatment brings compassionate, evidence-based care to you. Patients and families receive the same structure and support offered in our in-person PHP and IOP programs as they do with our online virtual eating disorder treatment, ensuring a strong foundation for lasting recovery.
Our Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) eating disorder treatment programs are available virtually, allowing individuals to access eating disorder treatment where they are, online. Patients connect with multidisciplinary providers and peers within a secure online environment.
Our Patient Financial Services team will work with you to determine if your insurance provider covers these online eating disorder treatment services.
Virtual or online eating disorder treatment uses technology to deliver care to clients virtually. It allows you to connect to your treatment team by video to receive the structured care and support you would typically receive in person.
Like traditional intensive programming (PHP and IOP), virtual eating disorder treatment at Veritas Collaborative includes individual, group, and family therapy; therapeutic meal support; nutritional counseling; psychiatry sessions; and medical appointments, as appropriate. Your treatment plan will be personalized to fit your specific needs.
Prior to receiving virtual eating disorder treatment at Veritas Collaborative, you will attend an orientation that introduces your programming schedule and curriculum. Orientation staff will ensure you have access to the appropriate food and nutritional supplements, technology, and other resources you will need to participate in virtual treatment services.
Medical and safety needs will be assessed regularly to ensure you are receiving the level of care appropriate for you.
What if I don’t have internet access at home?
Please let us know if you have any technology concerns (e.g., internet access) that would make it difficult for you to participate from home. We will provide internet for you on-site at Veritas Collaborative so that you can participate in virtual treatment services.
What are meals like over virtual treatment?
Therapeutic meals over virtual treatment involve our eating disorder recovery patients joining others at the table online. They have a short amount of time to prepare their meal prior to sitting with the group to eat. The group size at meals is smaller than in other virtual eating disorder treatment groups to allow for more interaction and support. Staff and peers in the group offer support at the meal so that patients can accomplish their meal-related treatment goals.
Individual & Group Sessions
Patients continue to receive support through individual, family, and group therapy sessions, in addition to individual sessions with their primary dietitian and psychiatric provider.
Multi-Family & Community of Support Programming
Family members and communities of support can participate in weekly virtual meetings where Veritas families and communities gather to share their experiences and draw strength from each other.
Meal Coaching & Support
Patients will continue to receive meal coaching and support provided by clinical team members and Therapeutic Assistants (TAs). In addition, patients participate in a virtual culinary group each week. While participants cook, the virtual format allows for interaction with both the chef and other group members to round out the culinary experience.
Nursing & Medical Visits
Medical and nursing visits remain an integral part of programming. Based on the patient’s clinical needs, visits may be virtual or in-person with appropriate safety measures.
Our adult treatment program is designed to help you discover that you are not your eating disorder. With a focus on whole-person care and communities of support, we strive to help individuals untangle their eating disorder behaviors and thoughts from their unique passions and goals to build a life worth living. We offer both individualized care and group treatment, all with the goal of equipping individuals and their communities of support with the skills they need to continue recovery and thrive in school, work, home, and the community.
Whole-Person Care
We know an eating disorder can interfere with all aspects of your life, including relationships with family and friends, general health and well-being, and your ability to engage fully in school or career. We also know the demands of life mean there’s never a good time for treatment. For these reasons, we don’t offer a program that simply treats your symptoms. We work instead to meet you wherever you are in life, develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, and provide you with the whole-person care most likely to lead to lasting recovery.
Collaborative Community of Support
In addition to receiving individual therapy, your entire community of support will have the opportunity to learn the most helpful ways of supporting you—and each other—throughout the process of eating disorder recovery. We’ve developed a unique treatment experience that allows your community to be involved at all levels of care (to the extent you choose, of course), and includes engaging multi-family programs each weekend. The goal is to equip both you and your community of support with the tools you need to feel empowered on the road to recovery.
Building A Life Worth Living
At Veritas Collaborative, we believe in partnering with each individual to help them improve their quality of life, re-engage with their community, and build a life worth living. An important part of that process is helping you discover that your eating disorder is not who you are. That requires great trust on both sides, and while we know trust is never given freely, we are committed to doing our part to earn yours.
Levels of Care
As a comprehensive healthcare system, Veritas is one of the few eating disorder programs in the nation that offers a full continuum of care, from inpatient to outpatient. We know that access to the right treatment at the right time is the key to lasting recovery.
Veritas provides individualized best-practice care tailored to the unique needs of each patient in a gender-diverse and inclusive environment. Key program elements include:
Comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment teams that remain with you throughout your recovery journey
Therapy informed by a unique blend of approaches that include Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Eating disorder-specific psychiatric, medical, and nutritional rehabilitation
Culinary & nutritional programming led by passionate gourmet chefs and registered dietitians
Most eating disorder treatment programs for young people were originally designed for adults. Not Veritas. We built our program from day one to meet the unique needs of children, adolescents, and their families. With a focus on individualized care, family involvement, and integrated educational support, our goal is to equip each person and their family with the take-home skills they need to continue recovery and thrive in the home environment.
Individualized Care
We recognize that every young person is truly one of a kind, and they respond best when their treatment is one of a kind, too. That’s why we develop an individualized care plan based on each patient’s unique medical, nutritional, and emotional needs. It’s also why we assign them a multidisciplinary care team—including a medical provider, registered dietitian, and psychotherapist—that stays with them as they progress through treatment. This helps build a trusting and comforting relationship between the care team, the young person, and the family, and it means that our team can more readily see what’s working best and adjust the care plan as needed. The goal, as with everything we do, is to provide effective, personalized care that leads to lasting recovery.
Family Involvement
We believe families are a powerful tool in the eating disorder recovery process. Therefore, a large component of our treatment process has been designed to facilitate family involvement through family therapy and multi-family group programming. Our goal is to help each individual and family tackle the eating disorder and thrive together in the home environment.
Integrated Educational Support
Age-appropriate educational support is integrated directly into the Child & Adolescent Program so that each young person is able to maintain academic progress. Our Education Coordinators and Teachers are creative in implementing each student’s educational plans and meeting their needs. The primary goal of our Education Program is to enable the continuation of student learning and prepare the student for a smooth transition back to their home school upon discharge, while also supporting their healing and recovery journey.
Nutrition and Culinary Support
Our nutrition program is designed to help individuals and families recognize and manage many common triggers for eating disorder behaviors. Unique features include individualized nutrition care with parent education and support, hands-on culinary experiences taught by skilled chefs, supervised restaurant outings, and private dining rooms where patients and families learn to navigate mealtime challenges by planning, preparing, and eating meals together in a realistic homelike setting.

Recovery starts with the right level of care at the right time.
Eating disorders are serious illnesses, and like other serious illnesses, they respond best to prompt and decisive treatment. We now know that starting treatment at the level of care that’s appropriate for each person promotes lasting recovery and minimizes the irreversible damage eating disorders can cause. Our comprehensive level of care assessment helps us determine what that level of care should be—and our dedicated eating disorder health system ensures we can deliver it.
