Charnel Maye earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from North Carolina Central University. During her Master’s program and after, she worked with children and families in a day treatment setting providing individual, family, and group therapy. Since graduating, Charnel has been dedicated to providing evidenced-based treatment to children and families.
Prior to coming to Veritas, Charnel provided outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, and families in both Private Practice and Community Mental Health settings. She has also had the privilege of advocating for clients to receive the appropriate level of care. Charnel has experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist with depression, trauma, and anxiety. Charnel is passionate about helping children and adolescents build their knowledge of self, challenge perceptions, and realizing their own strength.
Charnel brings a warm, empathic approach to counseling to ensure that each client feels supported and understood. Charnel views the counseling relationship to be collaborative in nature and values the utilization of evidence-based practices throughout the counseling process to support clients in attaining their goals.
