Eliza Sholtz MSW, LCSW | Veritas Collaborative Staff

Eliza is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker having earned a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Sewanee: The University of the South in Sewanee, TN.

After completing her undergraduate program, Eliza worked as a post graduate research associate at the Yale School of Medicine, Child Study Center. During her time at the Child Study Center, she conducted research on a variety of themes including emotional regulation, stress, and risk taking in adolescents. Through her research, she developed a deeper understanding of the biological and environmental factors that impact child/adolescent development and a strong desire to continue working with adolescents and their families.

During graduate school, Eliza provided counseling services to Middle School and High School students at Durham School of the Arts. Interventions addressed barriers that effect student success, including truancy, failing grades, emotional and behavioral issues. During her second year, Eliza worked in the Sickle Cell Clinic at Duke University Medical Center, where she provided services to individuals (and their families) who were receiving medical services. Services included supportive counseling, assessing patient needs and coordinating with community resources. Eliza also had the opportunity to participate in an additional placement at Williams Ward (an acute psychiatric facility) at Duke University Medical Center, where she completed patient assessments, created discharge plans and designed and implemented DBT groups for patients.
