Sara was born and raised near Burlington, North Carolina. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught math and science for seven years with Orange County Schools before joining the Veritas Collaborative team and DPS Hospital School staff. She resides in Hillsborough, North Carolina with her husband and dog.
Outside of the classroom, Sara was an Academic Camp Counselor for the Action Science Camp with Duke Youth Programs, an experience designed to strengthen science skills and confidence for adolescent girls. She volunteered with UNC Hospital’s Pediatric Emergency Department where she supported patients and their families. Sara also led various professional development programs for her education colleagues in Orange County.
Sara’s favorite aspect of teaching in the traditional classroom was building relationships with her students and their families. She loves working with adolescents and enjoys helping them continue academic progress during treatment. At Veritas, Sara focuses her energies on fostering smooth transitions for the students and their home school environments.
