  • Bulimia nervosa, defined by recurrent binge eating episodes that are followed by compensatory behaviors to prevent weight gain (e.g., self-induced vomiting, fasting, compulsive exercise, and/or the use of laxatives or diuretics)
  • Binge eating disorder (BED), characterized by recurrent binge eating episodes that lead to marked distress, a sense of loss of control, and feelings of disgust, self-loathing, or guilt
  • Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), characterized by a consistent failure to meet appropriate nutritional needs due to eating or feeding disturbances such as an apparent lack of interest in food, avoidance due to the sensory qualities of food, and/or concern over adverse consequences of eating food
  • Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED), marked by eating disorder symptoms that cause significant distress and impairment of social and/or occupational functioning, but do not meet the criteria for any other eating disorder diagnosis.

Treatment Types

All levels of care are offered at our Atlanta, Georgia eating disorder treatment center, ensuring that we can support you through each step of recovery.

Inpatient treatment

Inpatient treatment is the right fit for patients who require around-the-clock treatment and medical stabilization. Veritas is one of the only eating disorder programs in the nation that can treat individuals who require this level of care.

Residential treatment

Residential treatment is similar to inpatient in that they both include structured, around-the-clock care, but residential care is the right fit for people who do not require medical stabilization. Nursing staff are available onsite 24/7.

Partial hospitalization (PHP)/Intensive outpatient program (IOP)

Our partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) provide greater structure and support than our outpatient services, but more independence than 24/7 care. Patients typically spend a minimum of 30 hours per week in PHP and a minimum of 12 hours per week in IOP, either in person or virtually.

Outpatient treatment

Outpatient treatment takes place weekly, biweekly, or on an as-needed basis, depending on the needs of each person. This level of care is the right fit for someone who is medically stable and is looking for continued support on their recovery journey. Veritas offers in-person and virtual individual, family, and group treatment.

Virtual treatment

Veritas’ virtual eating disorder treatment uses technology to bring care to patients virtually. It allows patients to connect to their treatment team and receive individualized, expert care via video. Our virtual services are offered for our PHP, IOP, and outpatient services.

“The Veritas team are experts in this field, and also they were so kind and compassionate. The team members were solid –  especially important because the path forward was rocky and eating disorders thrive and grow in lies, fear, and denial.”

“We didn’t know our child was as sick as she was. Our pediatrician referred us, and we finally got our child admitted about a month later. It’s worth the wait, worth the money, and well worth the time you’ll spend without your child. ED can be very lethal if left untreated!”

“Beautiful hospital and the people I’ve met are all passionate about patient care.”

“The staff was great and kept in constant communication. My daughter learned skills there to overcome her disorder. She’s doing great now about 18 months later. Not without a few bumps in the road, but she’s never had to go back to a treatment facility and I’m forever grateful.”
