Dr. Parkavi Chellappa (she/her) serves as Director of Psychiatric Services at Veritas Collaborative’s RTP Child, Adolescent & Adult Eating Disorder Treatment Center in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Chellappa is a highly trained and experienced medical doctor specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry.

Dr. Chellappa completed her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, where she gained extensive knowledge and training in diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders in younger populations. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. While there, she gained a deep understanding of the complexities of psychiatric disorders and treatments. Dr. Chellappa is board-certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry.

Dr. Chellappa completed her primary medical school education in India before moving to the United Kingdom, where she completed her psychiatry residency at Northwest Wales NHS Trust. Her international experience has allowed her to develop a unique perspective on psychiatry and has provided valuable experience working with diverse populations.

Dr. Chellappa’s vast experience has made her well-versed in treating eating disorders and a range of co-occurring conditions, including anxiety, depression, other mood disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and psychosis. In addition to her clinical work at Veritas Collaborative, she has held various teaching positions at academic institutions and is a published researcher.

Dr. Chellappa is widely recognized for her compassionate and patient-centered approach to psychiatry and her dedication to improving the lives of her patients and their families. She has a passion for helping children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders and takes a compassionate and holistic approach to treatment. Her expertise and experience have made her a valuable asset to the child and adolescent psychiatry field.
