Dr. Smith comes to Veritas with a passion for using data and science to serve those with eating disorders and those who treat them. She believes that by applying the latest research to empathic, evidence-based care, we can save lives.
After completing a PhD in Nutrition Intervention and Policy at the School of Global Public Health at UNC Chapel Hill, she then completed a 2-year NIMH-funded postdoctoral research fellowship at the Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders at the UNC School of Medicine. A former engineer, her role at Veritas includes building and maintaining the system’s data infrastructure, and using our own robust treatment and outcomes data to continuously examine and improve our treatment model. Additionally, by serving as our liaison to our academic research partners, Dr. Smith helps ensure that Veritas participates in and applies the latest research in eating disorder treatment so that our patients get the very best evidence-based treatment for eating disorder recovery.
Dr. Smith is a native of Atlanta, GA and now lives in North Carolina with her husband, kids, and wanna-be therapy dog Rufus.
