Dr. Janelle Arias earned her bachelor’s degree in biology and anthropology at Union College and her medical degree from Albany Medical College. She completed a residency in Psychiatry at The University of Connecticut Health Center and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Yale Child Study Center.
Dr. Arias completed intensive training in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) through the Treatment Implementation Collaborative and has incorporated the principles of DBT into the psychiatric care she provides to patients and their families. Dr. Arias is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both general adult as well as child and adolescent psychiatry.
Prior to joining Veritas, Dr. Arias worked at the Yale affiliated Albert J. Solnit Children’s Center, where she held a clinical leadership position for the residential DBT program, working with adolescents and families struggling with PTSD and other major mental illnesses, including eating disorders. Dr. Arias also spent time working on the Solnit Center’s inpatient unit, where she trained child and adolescent psychiatry fellows as a voluntary faculty member for both the Yale Child Study Center and UConn Health Center. She has provided child and adolescent psychiatric care in a therapeutic day school setting as well as in a community outpatient clinic for Klingberg Family Centers.
