Sherise Swensen

Intake Coordinator

Sherise is a Licensed Clinic Social Worker Associate with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sherise also received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from North Carolina State University.

Prior to becoming a Clinical Intake Coordinator, Sherise was a Therapeutic Assistant at the Adolescent Inpatient and Residential Program at the Veritas Collaborative Durham location. As a TA, Sherise was inspired by the resilience of the patients and families with whom she worked. She gained a better understanding and knowledge of eating disorders, its treatment approaches, and its impact on the individual and family unit.

During graduate school, Sherise interned at Duke University Medical Center and provided psychotherapy services, clinical assessments, and case management for pregnant women and new mothers experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She also has experience working with adults and adolescents with mood disorders, trauma, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and chronic health conditions in settings such as crisis centers, in-home, and outpatient clinics. Sherise believes in an integrative approach to providing the best treatment and care for patients and client and is excited to work on a team where collaboration is a key value.

Sherise has lived in Durham since 2012 and enjoys exploring the Bull City with her husband and her corgi named Dempsey.
