Eating disorders experts have made great strides in understanding the complexity of eating disorders, including the interplay of biology and environment in the development of an eating disorder and the importance of family and communities of support in the recovery journey. With the application of research to practice, treatment interventions have become more targeted and effective.
As part of a relatively young and ever-changing field, it can be challenging to balance your practice while staying abreast of the latest research, treatment modalities, and interventions for all types of eating disorders. That is why we designed the annual Veritas Collaborative Symposium on Eating Disorders.
The 8th Annual Veritas Collaborative Symposium on Eating Disorders, on September 20-21, 2019, is designed to connect providers and research to deliver best practice care for the treatment of eating disorders – while earning up to a year’s worth (12) of continuing education credits.
Symposium attendees will enjoy a rich learning environment with diverse subject matter experts providing information on the latest advancements in eating disorders research and care, along with networking events and an optional tour of the Child, Adolescent & Young Adult Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Some of the topics covered in the keynote sessions include:
- Eating disorders care for transgender patients
- Advancements in the treatment of Binge-Eating Disorder
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
- Evidence-informed nutritional care
- Treatment of co-occurring eating disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder
The breakout sessions will offer a more intimate opportunity to learn from eating disorders thought leaders and will focus on topics ranging from the transdisciplinary application of evidence-based psychological treatments to having difficult patient conversations and understanding parent/carer perspectives in the treatment and recovery process.
At Veritas Collaborative, we envision a world where persons with eating disorders and their families and communities have access to best-practice care and hold hope for a cure. That is why we host our annual symposium, with the unique opportunity to meet and learn from top experts in the field and the chance to join our community of providers, who are all working toward the same goals. We hope you join us in our mission to drive the standard of care for eating disorder treatment so that all individuals and their families can thrive.
