Outpatient Treatment

Continued support for lasting recovery.

Outpatient care occurs weekly, biweekly, or on an as-needed basis, depending on the unique needs of each person. This level of care is suitable for individuals who are medically stable and in need of multidisciplinary support to continue their progress toward eating disorder recovery.

Components of Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient eating disorder care is our lowest level of care and provides a supportive environment to ensure an individual’s continued recovery. Appointments can be scheduled on an as-needed basis with any of our specialists. We’re here to supplement the work you, your current care team, and your family and community of support are already doing.

PHP/IOP Treatment

Structured support for sustained recovery.

Veritas Collaborative’s partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP) offer greater structure and support than non-intensive outpatient treatment but more independence than 24/7 care. With an individualized approach and focus on family and community-of-support involvement, PHP and IOP equip patients to build a life in recovery alongside the support of a multidisciplinary care team.

Components of PHP Treatment

Adult patients can admit directly into PHP as a first step in treatment or transition down to PHP from residential care. PHP is delivered by a multidisciplinary team including medical providers, registered dietitians, and psychotherapists. Programming takes place either in our facilities or in a virtual treatment environment and includes:

  • Skills-based group therapy
  • Therapeutic meals
  • Individual therapy sessions
  • Individual nutrition sessions
  • Expressive arts and movement therapy
  • Food skills groups
  • Psychiatry and medical services, as appropriate
  • Case management services

Components of IOP Treatment

Adult patients can admit directly to IOP as a first step in treatment or transition to IOP from a higher level of care. With a focus on relapse prevention and sustained recovery, patients typically spend a minimum of 12 hours per week either in our facilities or in a virtual treatment environment. Multidisciplinary IOP treatment at Veritas Collaborative includes:

  • Skills-based group therapy
  • Therapeutic meals
  • Individual therapy sessions
  • Individual nutrition sessions
  • Expressive arts and movement therapy
  • Food skills groups

Residential Treatment for Eating Disorders

Around-the-clock care and support.

Residential care is structured, around-the-clock treatment that comprises both individual and group therapies. What differentiates it from standard residential care is that nursing staff are available onsite, 24/7. This level of care is suitable for individuals who are medically stable but in need of 24-hour behavioral and medical supervision.

Components of Residential Care for Eating Disorders

Residential care can serve as a starting point on an individual’s journey of recovery or their next step after inpatient care for an eating disorder.

  • Individually specialized support from a multidisciplinary team consisting of a medical provider, a psychiatrist, a registered dietitian, and a psychotherapist—all trained in caring for those with an eating disorder
  • Daily individual, group, and community-of-support programming, informed by dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Eating disorder-specific internal medicine support
  • 24-hour nursing care
  • Direct psychiatric support
  • Moderate supervision from Therapeutic Assistants
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Culinary and mindfulness training

What Is Residential Eating Disorder Treatment?

Residential eating disorder treatment is a specialized form of treatment for individuals who are struggling with eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or binge eating disorder. At Veritas Collaborative, residential treatment involves a comprehensive and immersive approach to address the physical, psychological, and emotional aspects of the eating disorder.

In residential treatment at Veritas Collaborative, individuals live at a specialized facility designed to provide a supportive and therapeutic environment. These facilities are staffed by a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, dietitians, nurses, and therapists, who work together to develop and implement an individualized treatment plan.

The treatment in a residential setting typically involves a combination of medical care, nutritional counseling, individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. At Veritas Collaborative, the aim of residential eating disorder treatment is to address the underlying factors contributing to the eating disorder, promote healthier eating behaviors, establish a stable weight, and support overall psychological well-being.

The residential setting offers round-the-clock supervision and support to ensure safety, monitor progress, and prevent relapse. It provides a structured routine, including regular mealtimes, therapeutic activities, and supervised exercise, to help individuals develop healthier habits and coping mechanisms.

The duration of residential treatment can vary depending on the severity of the eating disorder and the individual’s progress. It may range from a few weeks to several months. After completing residential treatment, individuals may transition to outpatient or intensive outpatient programs to continue their recovery journey.

Overall, residential eating disorder treatment at Veritas Collaborative offers a highly supportive and intensive approach to help individuals overcome their eating disorders and work towards long-term recovery. It provides a safe and nurturing environment for individuals to develop a healthier relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves.

Inpatient Treatment

Medical stabilization and expert care.

Inpatient care is structured, highly monitored, around-the-clock treatment that integrates medical care and both individual and group therapies. Inpatient care is suitable for adults who require daily medical interaction, are medically unstable, and/or are severely depressed or a danger to themselves as a result of their entrenchment in eating disorder behaviors. Veritas is one of the nation’s only eating disorder programs able to treat individuals who require this level of care.

Components of Inpatient Care

Inpatient care is our highest level of care and is often the first step in an individual’s recovery journey when medical stabilization is necessary.

  • Individually specialized support from a multidisciplinary team consisting of a medical provider, a psychiatrist, a registered dietitian, and a psychotherapist
  • Daily individual, group, and community-of-support programming, informed by dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Eating disorder-specific internal medicine support
  • Direct psychiatric support
  • Focus on medical stability
  • 24-hour nursing care
  • Regular supervision from Therapeutic Assistants
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

Adult Treatment Program

Adult Treatment Program

Our goal is to help you discover your true self.

Our adult treatment program is designed to help you discover that you are not your eating disorder. With a focus on whole-person care and communities of support, we strive to help individuals untangle their eating disorder behaviors and thoughts from their unique passions and goals to build a life worth living. We offer both individualized care and group treatment, all with the goal of equipping individuals and their communities of support with the skills they need to continue recovery and thrive in school, work, home, and the community.

Friends with arms around shoulder

Whole-Person Care

We know an eating disorder can interfere with all aspects of your life, including relationships with family and friends, general health and well-being, and your ability to engage fully in school or career. We also know the demands of life mean there’s never a good time for treatment. For these reasons, we don’t offer a program that simply treats your symptoms. We work instead to meet you wherever you are in life, develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, and provide you with the whole-person care most likely to lead to lasting recovery.

Collaborative Community of Support

In addition to receiving individual therapy, your entire community of support will have the opportunity to learn the most helpful ways of supporting you—and each other—throughout the process of eating disorder recovery. We’ve developed a unique treatment experience that allows your community to be involved at all levels of care (to the extent you choose, of course), and includes engaging multi-family programs each weekend. The goal is to equip both you and your community of support with the tools you need to feel empowered on the road to recovery.

Building A Life Worth Living

At Veritas Collaborative, we believe in partnering with each individual to help them improve their quality of life, re-engage with their community, and build a life worth living. An important part of that process is helping you discover that your eating disorder is not who you are. That requires great trust on both sides, and while we know trust is never given freely, we are committed to doing our part to earn yours.

Levels of Care

As a comprehensive healthcare system, Veritas is one of the few eating disorder programs in the nation that offers a full continuum of care, from inpatient to outpatient. We know that access to the right treatment at the right time is the key to lasting recovery.

What to Expect from our Treatment Programs

Veritas provides individualized best-practice care tailored to the unique needs of each patient in a gender-diverse and inclusive environment. Key program elements include:

  • Comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment teams that remain with you throughout your recovery journey
  • Therapy informed by a unique blend of approaches that include Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Eating disorder-specific psychiatric, medical, and nutritional rehabilitation
  • Culinary & nutritional programming led by passionate gourmet chefs and registered dietitians
